How to measure your dog

The easiest way is to use a soft measuring tape that you can wrap around your dog. If you don't have one to hand, a ribbon or piece of string works just as well — wrap it around, then measure it afterwards.

While measuring, your dog should stand steadily on all four legs rather than sitting or lying down — that way the measurements will be the most accurate.

A. Back length:
Measure from the base of the neck (where the neck meets the back) all the way to the base of the tail.

B. Neck circumference:
Measure around the base of the neck, at its widest point.

C. Chest circumference:
Measure at the widest point of the chest, usually just behind the front legs.
